Warranty

  • Our warranty offers comprehensive coverage for 12 months from the date of purchase.

  • With online warranty registration, we facilitate the replacement of worn parts due to normal use at no charge during this period.

  • However, please note that the warranty becomes void if your tool experiences damage due to failure to follow recommended maintenance, misuse, alteration, or abuse.

  • We cannot be held responsible for any incidental or consequential damages.

  • Replacement Parts: Tools have a lifespan, especially when used in a professional environment.

  • Some components naturally wear out over time.

  • We maintain a complete assortment of replacement parts, including cords, brushes, rotors, body components, counterbalance assemblies, and more.

  • For further details, please contact your dealer or our customer service department.

Troubleshooting

  • Polisher does not start: Check the cord plug’s prongs for good contact in the outlet and inspect for blown fuses or open circuit breakers in the power line. If the tool still does not start, unplug it and inspect the motor brushes for excessive wear; replace them if necessary

  • Power cord issues: Inspect the power cord for cuts or shorts. If excessive wear is found, contact us for a replacement cord and service

  • Burnt smell during use, or sparks emitted: This is an indication that the carbon brushes are worn and may require replacing. Refer to the section below on how to change the carbon brushes. Note that a spare set of carbon brushes also comes in the polisher box; alternatively you can also purchase them here.

  • Polisher speed changes intermittently or speed cannot be controlled: This is an indication that the part may be faulty. For this, you will need to contact the team at hello@detailstore.com.au for further assistance.

Replacing Carbon Brushes

For replacing carbon brushes for the Sensei Pro polisher, refer to the video here.

For other polishers (Sensei Plus, Karate Kid, Grasshopper), see below:

  • Use a flat faced screwdriver to remove the cover.

  • The old brushes should come off once the cover is removed as it is spring loaded.

  • Insert the new ones in a similar way the old ones were removed, ensuring the carbon brushes are in full contact with the motor.

  • Tighten the cap back with the same flat faced screwdriver.

  • Restart the machine and there should be no more sparks.

Maintenance

  • Clean the power tool's air vents regularly to prevent dust buildup, which can reduce cooling capacity and shorten tool life. Use dry compressed air to blow out air passages periodically, wearing safety glasses while doing so.

  • Clean plastic and rubber parts with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using solvents; instead, use Interior Cleaner.

  • Check for misalignment, binding of moving parts, breakage, or any other issues that may affect the tool's operation. If damaged, have the tool repaired before further use to prevent accidents.

  • When servicing the tool, use only identical replacement parts to ensure its safety.

FAQ

  • Is there a power box on the cords of the polishers?
We do not have any power boxes on our cord as everything has been engineered to be contained within the polisher.

  • What's the difference between a large and small pad? 7” compared to 6”?
A larger pad gives you a larger surface area to work with thereby achieving more within the same amount of time. The trade-off here is manoeuvrability.

  • What is the difference between a dual action random orbital and forced rotation machine?
Dual action polishers both orbit and spin. Random orbital ones stop spinning under pressure as a safety feature. Forced rotation polishers don’t stop spinning. Note: some dual action polishers are also forced rotation.

  • Can I mount other backing plate types and sizes to your polishers?
All polishers use a standard M8 thread, so other backing plates can be mounted. However, this isn’t recommended as the machines are engineered for the included plates. Using others may lead to suboptimal performance.

  • Are your polisher backing plates compatible with other brands?
Yes, provided they have the same mounting groove. However our polishers have been engineered to work most effectively with the backing plates included in our package.

  • Can I use a different handle types on your polishers?
The Karate Kid and Sensei Plus have ambidextrous bail handles and can use stick handles on either side with an M8 bolt. The Grasshopper has no handle mounts.

  • Do you sell replacement parts for the machines?
Yes, we stock all spare parts. Feel free to contact us directly for any queries. Repairs can be done by the user but no warranty can be issued for independent repairs. All repairs done at the Apex Customs come with a 3 month warranty.

  • How do I know what throw/orbit and model to select?
We recommend the 21mm 7” Sensei for quickly covering large areas, paired with the 9mm 3” Grasshopper for tight spots like door jambs and spoilers. The 21mm offers speed but sacrifices manoeuvrability. The Grasshopper handles tighter areas effectively. If budget is a factor, the 15mm Sensei is a reliable all-rounder designed to handle most situations with ease.

  • How long does the foam pads last?
With proper care (no harsh soaps, no washing machine), expect 3–5 uses per pad. Hand wash with warm water only.

  • Can I use other backing pads on your machines?
Yes, as long as the thread and adaptor match. However, the supplied plates are designed for our machines, and backing plate weight affects balance. Other combinations may cause vibration, noise, and a subpar experience.
